Your Guide to Atlanta Basketball Leagues

Your Guide to Atlanta Basketball Leagues

Hey! Looking for Atlanta basketball leagues? We’ve got you covered.

Here, you can find the right men’s, women’s, or co-ed basketball league for you based on your skill level, location, and availability. Plus, you can join an Atlanta Sport and Social Club (ASSC) league as a team, an individual, or a small group. Seriously, there’s something for EVERYONE.

Our basketball leagues are growing each season and we see some awesome teams come through. Believe us when we say you’ll love getting to play with these people! Oh, and we’ll take care of the locations, equipment, refs, schedules, and even t-shirts; all you need to do is sign up and show up (yeah, that’s it).

Here’s your complete guide to an ASSC basketball league:

Finding the right league

Finding the right league can be tough, but we’re here to make it as easy as possible for you. Bear with us: there are only a few decisions you need to make to find the right one for you.

First, decide if you want to be on a men’s or women’s team (see, told you it was easy), or if you’d rather join a co-ed basketball league.

Next, determine your skill level. We have three levels for you to choose from:

  1. Recreational leagues. These are leagues for people who are trying out a basketball league for the first time, who are a little rusty and haven’t played in a while, or are just looking to have a good time while also shooting some hoops. This doesn’t mean these people are bad at basketball; it just means competition isn’t the number one priority here. If you’re looking for a new, fun way to socialize, then this is the level for you.
  2. Intermediate leagues. This is exactly what it sounds like: the sweet spot in between rec leagues and competitive leagues. You don’t have to be a pro, but if you want a little more competition with all the fun, this one’s for you.
  3. Competitive leagues. If you’re a die-hard baller, if you’ve played all throughout high school and maybe even college, if your name is LeBron… Sign up for the competitive league. Once again, you don’t need to be a pro, but if you want a good challenge, this is where you belong.

Another thing to think about when finding the right league for you is timing. We do our best to put together leagues at all different times and different days so you have plenty of options, but if you ever feel like we’re missing something, let us know!

Along those same lines, it’s important to find the right location for you. We’re always scouting out new courts so we can add more locations to make it all the more convenient and enjoyable for you. But again, if you feel like we’re neglecting an area or you’d like to see more options near you, reach out to us.

Now you know what to look for! Here are all the available leagues we have right now

Signing up

When signing up, there are two options: creating your own team or signing up as an indy and letting us do the work. If you have a group of people you know you can recruit on your own, then we encourage you to sign up as a team captain and determine exactly who will be on your team.

But if you’re looking to join a league but don’t have a team (whether it’s just you, you and a friend, or even you and a couple of friends but not enough for a team), sign up as an individual and we’ll place you in the right team. The best thing about these indy teams is that they’re made up of people like you who want to play but don't have a set team, and why should they miss out on all the fun?

Here’s how to sign up for each:

Team captains

  1. Start here and find the right league for you
  2. Click “team” next to the league you’ve decided to join
  3. Log in if you’re a returning player or create a player profile if you’re brand new
  4. Fill out your team’s information. You can change this at any time, but try to get the basics laid out.
  5. Pay the $50 team deposit
  6. Send invitations and fee requests to your team members. You can do this by entering their email addresses or sending them a link directly. Pro tip: if you have some friends who don’t check their email often, shoot them a text message with the link
  7. Remind your players to pay their fees. Any remaining balance will be charged to you on the day of the payment deadline.

Small groups and individuals

  1. Find the right league for you by clicking here
  2. Click on “individual” next to the league you want to join
  3. Log in if you’re a returning player or create a player profile if you’re new to this
  4. If you’re joining as a small group or with anyone else, fill out the “play with friends” section
  5. Pay your registration fee
  6. We’ll send you an email 48 hours before your first game linking you to a group chat system called GroupMe so you can start chatting with your teammates!
  7. Get ready to meet some cool new people! Maybe brush up on some icebreakers and give yourself a pep talk before your first game… Because we all know how awkward meeting new people can be.

Playing

We’re serious when we say all you need to do is sign up and show up! We’ll determine the schedule and location each week, and we’ll send out the information you need before each game. We’ll even give you a jersey to wear! Just show up ready to meet people who also love basketball, and for an awesome time. Each season ends with playoffs and a championship, and if you’re lucky enough to win, you’ll get one of our coveted champions t-shirts (yeah, they’re kind of a big deal). Get ready!

That’s it! Now you know how to sign up for a basketball league and what’s expected of you when you join. If you still have any questions, that’s what we’re here for. Head to our Facebook or Instagram page or reach out to us here

See you on the court!
